Somatic Self Connection Through Shibari

In today’s time of covid19, social justice uprisings, corruption and tragedy, Facebook fights with relatives and high school “friends”, there is no doubt that our nervous systems are in need of some serious love and care.

Join guest educator Xana for interactive discussions and exercises on how our nervous systems respond to stress, what chronic stress does to our bodies, and the different ways using rope can bring us back into parasympathetic, healing states. They will be teaching this course from the perspective of self regulation (self tying), but will also discuss how these skills and ideas are easily transferable for co-regulation with a tying partner.

This is a low-stress, floor-based rope class. All body types, identities, and skill levels welcome. Suggested 1-2 hanks of rope.

Presenter: Xana [ záy•nuh ], known as Punnybunny on Fet and Instagram, has been a part of the rope world since Fall 2015. They are a trans non-binary, polyamorous, queer who recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Somatic Psychotherapy and Sex Education. They used their college’s interdisciplinary program as an opportunity to delve into the science of kink and Shibari – answering questions such as: why can pain feel good? How does rope bondage support healing? Before covid19, they were a co-educator for bi-monthly rope 101 classes at their local sex positive center. Currently, they work at a sex shop and are constantly discussing and learning about sex and gender and pleasure. They are a fiery feminist, Black Lives Matter supporter, and LOVE wearing their mask while in public.
