Somatic Explorations of Self Tying Body Mechanics w/ Linworth

Body awareness and a knowledge of body mechanics are helpful things to have in rope, no matter the role you’re occupying at any given time. For self tyers, understanding how your body moves from both a top and bottom standpoint is a necessary skill, and one that can be fostered through mindful exploration of movement on the ground and in the air.

This class will delve into principles from somatic therapy and other mind/body modalities, and apply them to floor work exercises and move on to demonstrations in the air. Please be prepared with a warmed up body, a yoga mat or blanket (and maybe some pillows for props), and a couple hanks of rope.
Bio

Linworth (she/her/they/them) unwittingly fell into the rope world a few years into her kinky path, and was maniacally hooked early on after her first classroom and suspension experiences. Nine years later, she has since blossomed as an organizer and educator, and has gradually built upon a strong CV of performances on the national and international level.

Always up for a challenge, her favorite forms of rope physically test her endurance, as well as the mind and spirit of herself and her tying partner. As a bottom, self-tyer, and occasional top, she views rope as both an artform and a science, and is constantly marveling in all of the possibilities it presents. By continually learning, imagining, and exploring, she hopes to provide a more holistic understanding of rope practice and share her passion with the world.
